Two weeks in Japan
Fourteen nights, four bases, and a rail pass that is only worth buying for three of them. We book the flights, the first two nights, the ryokan that sells out in October and the seat reservations on the two trains that need them. Everything else you decide over breakfast.
The middle week is deliberately unplanned: Kyoto rewards a day you did not schedule more than any city we send people to.
